Message from the Company
The United States Department of Agriculture estimated in 1997 that
1.5 billion tons of animal waste is produced each year in
the United States. Today, that number might approach 2
billion tons per year. Processing all that waste into
natural gas (methane) would replace a very significant
fraction of the natural gas used in the U.S. each year.
In
recent years, the supply of natural gas has begun to dwindle
forcing the need for additional supplies to be developed.
Processing animal waste and other organic material, such as
food processing waste, into economical natural gas would be
an important new supply. Intrepid Technology
and Resources, Inc. (ITR) is providing the leadership
and innovation to bring this about. Our approach is to bring
methane to market by building anaerobic digesters at local
organic waste sites to produce methane, clean the methane to
consumer standards, and distribute the clean gas for sale to
consumers. Our approach is well underway in southern Idaho
whereby two biogas plants are already operating. Plans are
aggressively underway to clean that biogas and provide for
distribution to consumers. We are currently involved in
discussions with dairymen and other animal waste producers
in other western states and other portions of the country to
build systems similar to the ones in Idaho whereby
clean gas can be sold to consumers instead of converting
biogas into electricity.

bringing methane to market.
